Underground Production and Development Miners drill, blast, and operate a variety of hand-held and remote-controlled pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and diesel mining machinery to extract ore and to construct and maintain tunnels, passageways and shafts to facilitate mining operations. Vale's Canadian mines are located in Sudbury, Ontario and in Thompson, Manitoba. The diversity of the ore bodies requires many different mining techniques and mining skills. The work involves shift work on a 24/7 basis. Training is provided and advancement opportunities exist at all locations.
