Vale Europe Ltd’s Clydach Nickel Refinery makes essential products that form the backbone of the global drive for smarter, cleaner, low carbon technology. Our products are used in mobile phone batteries and hybrid-electric vehicles. However our operations are energy intensive, and as we all know energy from traditional sources is becoming increasingly expensive due to increased demand and decreased availability. Added to which we have legal obligations to reduce our carbon emissions under the Climate Change Agreement.
The Clydach Refinery is proposing to build an advanced energy facility that will generate the electrical energy needed to run the site in a more affordable and sustainable way. This investment will help create a long-term competitive future for the refinery and benefit the natural environment through reducing our on site carbon footprint by 25%.
